Problem:
When we first began working with this local St. Louis-based hospital, they had not been conducting regularly scheduled maintenance on their elevators. As a result, they experienced regular and repetitive equipment failures. Their operations and maintenance staff grew increasingly frustrated with the slow response and poor communication they were getting from their previous elevator service provider. Not only was it causing unnecessary deterioration of their equipment, it was also causing a steady stream of patient complaints about their elevators’ performance.
Solution:
Immediately after they contracted with Midwest Elevator, we allocated a highly experienced lead technician to work on-site. We supplemented the lead technician with additional manpower to rapidly restore their elevators to industry standards. From the outset, we established quarterly roundtable meetings between hospital staff, our lead engineer and ownership to review progress of the maintenance program in improving performance and reducing inspection violations and customer complaints.
Results:
Despite the vintage equipment, we were able to restore the reliability of their elevator performance to the point where their hospital administration is no longer receiving complaints from patients or staff. We’ve since modernized their nine gearless elevators and six geared elevators between the hospital and medical offices.
